Elon Musk is set to transition into a supporting role within the Trump administration, according to multiple reports. Trump privately informed Cabinet members that while Musk will no longer lead the Department of Government Efficiency, he will likely remain an informal adviser.
Musk’s temporary appointment was set to expire in late May or early June, though many expected an extension. His tenure has reportedly included clashes with top officials, including a heated exchange with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Despite stepping back, insiders say Musk isn’t leaving the political scene entirely. Trump hinted at the shift, telling reporters, “Musk wants to go back to his company… I’d keep him as long as I could.”
