Duke basketball sensation Cooper Flagg has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, capping off one of the most dominant freshman campaigns in recent college basketball history.
On Monday, the 18-year-old took to Instagram to share the big news, confirming what many already expected: he’s NBA-bound after a single unforgettable season in Durham.
“This past year has been the best of my life,” Flagg said in a heartfelt video. “I’m beyond grateful for the love and support. Duke was always a dream, but I’m ready to take the next step. I’m entering my name in the 2025 NBA Draft, and the journey is just getting started. The Brotherhood is forever.”
Widely projected to be the No. 1 overall pick, Flagg dominated for the Blue Devils this season, leading the team in nearly every major category. His stat line? A jaw-dropping 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game.
He also set the ACC freshman scoring record with a legendary 42-point performance against Notre Dame in January… just one of many highlights that have NBA scouts buzzing.
“Cooper’s season was truly special. His numbers, his leadership, his impact on both ends of the floor… he did it all. It’s one of the best freshman seasons Duke has ever seen.”
Flagg’s efforts earned him the 2025 Naismith Player of the Year Award, making him only the fourth freshman in history to take home the prestigious honor. He also helped lead Duke to the Final Four, where the Blue Devils fell just short of a national title.
With the NBA Draft Lottery set for next month, all eyes are now on who will land the coveted first pick. The Utah Jazz, who finished the season with the league’s worst record, currently have a 14% shot at securing the top selection.
As Cooper Flagg officially begins his NBA journey, one thing is clear: a new superstar is on the rise.
