In recent news, a shooting incident outside Drake’s residence in Toronto has stirred up speculation among fans regarding a potential link to The Weeknd’s manager, Cash XO.
While a security guard was injured in the incident, social media has been abuzz with theories connecting the shooting to tensions between Drake and The Weeknd.
The shooting occurred on Tuesday, May 7, adding fuel to the fire of Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar. However, fans were quick to draw connections between the incident and previous events involving The Weeknd’s camp.
Rumors began circulating after Drake’s diss track, “Push Ups,” where he took aim at both The Weeknd and Cash XO. This followed jabs from The Weeknd’s collaborators, Future and Metro Boomin, in their track “All to Myself.”
The speculation intensified as similarities emerged between the shooting at Drake’s mansion and a prior incident at Cash XO’s home in Los Angeles.
The shooting at Cash XO’s residence occurred on April 29, resulting in a security guard being shot. Authorities launched an investigation, seeking three suspects described by the victim as wearing hoodies and surgical masks.
In the recent shooting at Drake’s home, which took place around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, one suspect fled the scene. The injured security guard remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
While a representative for Drake confirmed his safety, details regarding his presence during the shooting remain undisclosed. Inspector Paul Krawczyk stated, “I cannot confirm if Drake was home at the time the incident occurred, but I can tell you that we are in contact with his team and they are cooperating.”
Despite collecting video evidence of the incident, authorities face challenges due to “video quality issues” but assure ongoing efforts in the investigation.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, leaving both fans and authorities to speculate on the potential connections and underlying tensions between the involved parties.
