Drake seems unfazed by Wack 100’s stern advice to distance himself from Top5, the controversial Toronto rapper. The pair recently made a public appearance at a Toronto Raptors game, signaling Drake’s continued support despite the swirling controversy.
The two were spotted together during the Raptors’ nail-biting 104-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday (January 13). Top5 shared a clip on Instagram showing him and Drake walking to their seats, captioning it: “Me & twin @champagnepapi.”
Wack 100, a seasoned music manager, recently issued a public warning to Drake regarding Top5. During an interview with No Jumper, Wack implied he had damning evidence about the rapper, holding up a USB drive for emphasis.
“Drake needs to get away from Top5. He’s bad news,” Wack stated. “This has been in existence for about 90 days, and I’ve personally ensured it hasn’t gone anywhere out of respect for you, Drake. But trust me, that dude will have you caught up in serious trouble.”
Wack further criticized Top5’s reckless behavior, adding: “He ties you to things with his mouth. He’s a dumbass, and I’m warning you as a brother… stay away from him.”
Top5, whose real name is Hassan Ali, has been a polarizing figure in the Toronto rap scene. The 25-year-old was released from jail last September after beating a first-degree murder charge connected to a 2019 shooting that left 20-year-old college student Hashim Omar Hashi dead. Authorities believed the victim was mistakenly targeted in a gang-related attack.
The case was dismissed when key evidence was deemed inadmissible, and it later came to light that Drake had supported Top5 by covering his legal fees. Following his release, Top5 took to Instagram to thank Drake, writing: “Shoutout big bro @champagnepapi for the Lawyer Fees & Gary Grill for being the best lawyer in Toronto #ALLAHUAKBAR.” However, the post was later edited to omit any mention of the 6 God.
Since his release, Top5 has remained loyal to Drake, even stepping into his ongoing rivalry with Kendrick Lamar. The rapper shockingly threatened Lamar in a show of solidarity with Drake, intensifying the controversy surrounding him.
Despite Wack 100’s warnings and Top5’s turbulent reputation, Drake’s appearance with him at the Raptors game suggests that the OVO superstar is standing by his fellow Toronto native… at least for now.
