In the dynamic world of hip-hop, artists often measure their success by the number of chart-topping albums they can achieve. One of the most iconic figures in rap, Jay-Z, once confidently declared, “Only The Beatles, nobody ahead of me. I crushed Elvis in his Blue Suede Shoes. Made the Rolling Stones seem as sweet as Kool-Aid,” on his track “Reminder” from 2009’s The Blueprint 3.
Over the past fourteen years, Drake has been climbing the ranks in pursuit of the coveted title of most No. 1 albums, coming remarkably close to Jay-Z’s record. Currently, Jay-Z holds the second position on the list of all-time Billboard 200 chart leaders.
The Roc Nation founder boasts an impressive fourteen Number Ones, second only to The Beatles, who lead the pack with nineteen chart-toppers. Drake, on the other hand, has achieved a commendable total of thirteen Number One albums.
Drake now takes the top spot on the latest Billboard 200 chart with his latest release, “For All the Dogs.” The album made its debut at No. 1, amassing an impressive 402,000 first-week units. In this feat, Drake also broke his tie with Taylor Swift, who has twelve No. 1 albums, propelling him into third place all on his own.
Furthermore, “For All the Dogs” proved to be a streaming sensation, pulling in a staggering 514.01 million on-demand streams. This remarkable achievement earned Drake’s eighth studio album the title of the largest streaming week of 2023 and the fourth-largest streaming week in music history. It’s worth noting that his 2018 album, “Scorpion,” still holds the all-time record with an astounding 745.92 million streams.
As Drake continues to climb the ranks and etch his name in the annals of hip-hop history, it’s clear that he is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
