Former romantic partners Drake and SZA are providing listeners with a sneak peek of their upcoming album, “For All The Dogs,” through the release of their latest duet, “Slime You Out.”
Drake, known for his lyrical prowess, dropped this new track on a Friday, delivering a strong message addressing the lack of direction he perceives in some women’s lives. However, the song takes a twist as he navigates the highs and lows of his own romantic entanglements.
SZA joins in the musical conversation, taking the reins in the middle of the track and offering her perspective on behalf of women. Drake concludes the song with his signature sing-songy rap, bringing the track to a harmonious close.
It’s worth noting that Drake and SZA have a somewhat tumultuous history. Their romantic involvement became public knowledge when Drake disclosed details about their relationship in his 2020 collaboration with 21 Savage, “Mr. Right Now.”
This revelation initially cast a shadow over their potential working relationship. However, it seems that any past grievances have been put to rest, and they’re now focused on creating music together.
For the cover art of “Slime You Out,” Drake opted for a striking image from the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, featuring Halle Berry getting slimed. This choice serves as a metaphor within the song, with Drake alluding to it in his lyrics, “I’m slimin’ you for them kid choices you made.”
