In an intriguing turn of events, Dr. Dre once considered entering the cannabis industry but ultimately decided against it, citing a preference for a more secure approach. The Cookies CEO, Berner, recently disclosed this fascinating encounter during an interview on The Bootleg Kev Podcast.
Berner reminisced about a meeting that took place roughly three or four years ago when he presented a unique cannabis strain proposal to the legendary N.W.A veteran. With great enthusiasm, Berner introduced Dre to a jar of what they planned to call ‘The Chronic.’ This particular strain was extraordinary, boasting vibrant hues of orange and purple, along with a distinctive aroma that could easily belong in a Hollywood movie.
During their conversation, Dr. Dre expressed genuine interest in ‘The Chronic.’ He acknowledged the effort that Slim, the Mobster, had put into arranging the meeting and showed appreciation for the proposition. However, he also revealed his reservations about entering the cannabis industry at that time.
Dr. Dre explained his hesitance, stating that he had substantial financial resources at his disposal. He believed it was unwise to engage in the cannabis industry until it achieved federal legalization, opting not to take unnecessary risks with his assets. In his own words, he remarked, “I’ve got significant resources, and I don’t want to jeopardize them until the industry becomes federally legal. I just can’t afford to take that risk.”
