DoorDash is rolling out autonomous delivery robots, called Dots, across the Phoenix metro area.
The bright red, five-foot-tall bots can travel roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes, carrying up to 30 pounds of food or goods at speeds of 20 mph.
Powered by AI, DoorDash’s system decides in real time whether an order should be delivered by a Dasher, drone, or Dot.
Co-founder Stanley Tang says Dot was built to make deliveries faster, cheaper, and more efficient:
“You don’t need a car to deliver toothpaste or diapers.”
Mesa’s mayor praised the move, calling it a win for local businesses and tech innovation.
