In a surprising turn of events, DJ Drama’s recent visit to Toronto has cost him an additional $120K to reclaim his stolen chains, according to claims made by local rapper Top5.
The hip-hop community was taken aback when rumors of Drama’s robbery circulated over the weekend. While the Generation Now founder has yet to address the speculation himself, Top5 shared a video showcasing masked individuals proudly brandishing what appeared to be Drama’s jewelry while also giving a shout-out to Drake. Although Drama and the Canadian rapper have seemingly resolved their differences, this incident undoubtedly dealt a blow to Drama’s ego.
Just a few days after the news broke, it was revealed today (June 13) that Drama’s chains are in the process of being returned to him. The details of the negotiation and the level of cooperation involved remain undisclosed.
According to an Instagram comment from Top5 on DJ Akademiks’ post, the price paid to regain possession of the jewelry was substantial. “A good deal – $120K for the chain back 😂😂,” he wrote. The caption accompanying the Toronto lyricist’s original post stated, “For those of you who refuse to promote or play my music in 2023, your chains will be snatched. @djdrama, come retrieve your chain, little boy.”
Evidently, there is animosity between the two individuals, although the reason for Drama’s refusal to play Top5’s music remains unknown. It is worth noting that Top5 faced a previous charge of first-degree murder in late 2021, allegedly seeking vengeance for his brother’s death, which has significantly marred his reputation.
