Diddy and Jermaine Dupri’s highly anticipated Verzuz battle has finally been confirmed with a date and venue. The rap moguls will face off on September 8 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, as announced in a video posted on Busta Rhymes’ social media on May 7.
In the video, Diddy expressed his excitement, saying, “We’re gon’ have you out the rafters flying out the sky,” while Fabolous stood alongside them. Although Diddy made the announcement, Verzuz co-founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz have yet to formally confirm the event.
Diddy and Jermaine Dupri previously agreed to put their catalogs to the test last August, with Diddy inviting Dupri to an Instagram Live session, confident in his chances in a head-to-head battle. However, they later agreed to showcase the history of their respective labels, Bad Boy Records and So So Def Recordings, by playing their hits without any drama.
The format for the upcoming Verzuz battle is currently unknown. Nevertheless, the news of the battle has already created a buzz in the music industry, and fans can’t wait to see the two icons face off against each other.
