Hollywood is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved and unconventional stars. Diane Keaton, the Academy Award–winning actress whose career spanned more than four decades, has died at the age of 79. The news was confirmed Saturday by producer and close friend Dori Rath, who shared the heartbreaking News.
Keaton’s family has not yet issued a public statement. According to reports from People Magazine, the actress passed away in California on October 11, 2025.
Born in Los Angeles in 1946, Keaton’s journey to stardom began in her early 20s when she appeared in the musical Hair. She later earned a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Woody Allen’s Play It Again, Sam in 1968.
Though she once dreamed of becoming a singer, Keaton admitted her voice wasn’t strong enough to pursue that path. Instead, she found her calling in acting… a decision that would forever change Hollywood.
She made her film debut in 1970’s Lovers and Other Strangers and quickly built momentum with roles in The Godfather trilogy, Reds, Something’s Gotta Give, and her Oscar-winning performance in Annie Hall, which solidified her as a cultural icon.
