OJ Da Juiceman’s career trajectory owes much to Jadakiss, who was instrumental in helping the rapper gain prominence in New York City, according to his former manager, Debra Antney.
Debra Antney, known for managing top artists like her son Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, and Nicki Minaj, recently discussed OJ Da Juiceman’s rise and fall on DJ Self’s Apt. 5H podcast.
Addressing claims from OJ that she owes him money, Antney firmly denied any wrongdoing. Instead, she pointed out that OJ should acknowledge the pivotal role Jadakiss played in boosting his career, particularly through the 2009 hit “Who’s Real.”
“You made millions, but your time in the spotlight was short-lived,” Debra said. New York embraced you when Georgia didn’t. It was New York that put you on, and that’s something you failed to recognize.”
She continued by highlighting the importance of Jadakiss in OJ’s career: “OJ was accepted in New York because Jadakiss believed in him more than anyone. While people might have recognized him for hanging out with Gucci Mane, his music hadn’t taken off yet.
Jadakiss was the one who pushed him into the spotlight, but unfortunately, he never got the credit he deserved.”
Debra Antney’s comments shed light on the crucial support OJ Da Juiceman received from Jadakiss, which ultimately helped him break into the New York scene— a feat that may have been impossible without the rapper’s endorsement.
