Country singer Darius Rucker, best known for his time with Hootie & the Blowfish, found himself in legal trouble over a minor drug offense in Tennessee. The charges suggest an alleged involvement in a handoff, as per the details disclosed during his booking.
The incident occurred in Williamson County, where Rucker resides. The artist was apprehended on Thursday and cooperated with law enforcement, posing for a mug shot at the Sheriff’s Department. The charges lodged against him are three misdemeanors in total.
Rucker’s arrest includes two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of violating the state’s vehicle registration law. According to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the allegation related to the vehicle registration involves an expiration of tags on his car.
The arrest took place around 10 AM PT, with Rucker being released approximately an hour later after posting bail. He is no longer in custody.
