In a recent interview on The CEO Show, Dame Dash took the opportunity to address some comments made by Irv Gotti regarding his contributions to Roc-A-Fella Records. Dash and Gotti share a close bond, which makes Dash’s response particularly heartfelt.
Gotti had suggested that Jay-Z was the driving force behind Roc-A-Fella Records’ success during its peak, a claim that Dash couldn’t let pass without comment. He expressed his concern for Gotti’s mental well-being, emphasizing that their connection as brothers heightened his worry.
Dash articulated his concerns further by noting that he observes Gotti celebrating by taking control of his artists’ masters and selling them to generate income. This approach contrasts starkly with Dash’s philosophy, as he firmly believes in empowering artists both creatively and economically.
In Dash’s view, nurturing the financial empowerment of creative talents leads to the emergence of artists like Kanye West and Jay-Z as billionaires.
It’s worth mentioning that Gotti had previously downplayed Dash’s role in Roc-A-Fella Records’ success during its heyday. However, Dash’s response centered on genuine concern rather than dwelling on past disagreements.
