In a recent episode of The Bootleg Kev Podcast at the 2023 BET Awards, DaBaby openly praised J. Cole’s recent purchase of the Charlotte Hornets, finding it to be a significant source of inspiration.
During the interview, DaBaby engaged in a variety of discussions with the podcast host, including J. Cole’s new business venture. When asked by Bootleg Kev if he would consider a similar move in the future, DaBaby described it as “dope” and hinted at the possibility of exploring such opportunities.
DaBaby shared his thoughts, stating, “It’s dope as hell,” he said. “I ain’t gone say anything bad about the Hornets, but it do.”
He further expressed, “I love the fact that J.Cole is in there, man, ’cause hopefully he come and move some things around and shake some shit up. We need dogs.”
According to a statement from the Hornets, the Fayetteville rapper is part of The Buyer Group, led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, alongside country singer Eric Church. The Buyer Group reportedly acquired the franchise from MJ for a staggering $3 billion, following MJ’s initial purchase of the team in 2010 for $275,000,000.
Jordan will maintain a minority share in the team and continue to be involved with the Hornets, pending the approval of the NBA Board of Governors, as the deal concludes in the coming days, according to ESPN.
