Costco shoppers… check your wine stash ASAP.
Costco has urgently pulled close to 1 million bottles of its popular Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, after U.S. officials warned the product could unexpectedly burst and cause serious cuts and injuries.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the producer (F&F Fine Wines International Inc.) received multiple reports of bottles suddenly shattering… including one case where a customer was physically injured from flying glass.
The recalled bottles were sold for around $8 each, easily identifiable by their green bottle design with purple foil and a purple Kirkland Signature label.
Consumers are being told DO NOT try to open them. Place the bottles inside a plastic bag or wrap in paper towels before throwing them away to avoid injury. These bottles were available at Costco stores in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin between April 2025 and August 2025.
