Grammy-nominated rapper Hurricane Chris is currently on trial for the murder of Danzeria O. Ferris Jr. in Louisiana. The shooting occurred in June 2020 when Hurricane, whose real name is Christopher Dooley, claimed he caught Ferris attempting to steal his car outside a gas station.
However, the shooting proved to be fatal, and Ferris later passed away in the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. Although Ferris was found to be driving a stolen car, Hurricane maintains his innocence, and his trial has now begun three years later.
During the proceedings, Hurricane’s lawyer made a strange comparison between Ferris and Deebo, a character from the movie “Friday,” even going so far as to present a photo of the actor to the jury.
Hurricane Chris is facing charges of second-degree murder and possession of a stolen vehicle following a shooting incident on June 19th. The vehicle in question is the same one that Hurricane claims was stolen by the victim, who has since passed away.
During the trial, 911 phone calls were played, causing distress to one woman who had to leave the courtroom. Hurricane maintains his innocence and is pleading not guilty, with his defense team arguing that the shooting was an act of self-defense.
However, some have been skeptical of his defense, especially given the comparison made by his attorney between the victim and a movie character, as well as the fact that Hurricane was driving a stolen car.
The trial began on March 8th, and while it is still in its early stages, many believe that the outcome is already fairly predictable.
