Charlie Sheen is opening up about a surprising chapter in his life. The former Two and a Half Men star, who is promoting his new memoir The Book of Sheen and a Netflix documentary, says he has been celibate since 2017… the year he got sober.
In his book, released Tuesday, Sheen reflects on his Hollywood highs and lows and admits that relationships simply aren’t part of his current lifestyle. “There’s not enough room in my car for dating right now,” he wrote.
During an interview with Page Six, Sheen was asked directly if nearly a decade without a girlfriend meant celibacy. His reply was blunt: “If I don’t have a girlfriend and I’m not paying for it, then I think the math is pretty simple.”
The actor, who revealed he was HIV positive in 2011, emphasized that his celibacy is more of a pause than a permanent choice. “For so long, sex was everything to me, always at the top of the list. I just needed a break from it,” Sheen said. “But that doesn’t mean I’ve closed the door on love. I would absolutely welcome companionship again.”
