Charlamagne Tha God recently revealed the truth behind Angela Yee’s departure from The Breakfast Club, and it’s not as juicy as some may have hoped. Last August, Yee announced that she was leaving the popular Power 105.1 show to host her own nationally syndicated daily show on iHeart Radio called Way Up With Angela Yee.
In a follow-up interview with Variety, Yee stated that her departure had been coming for a “long time” and that there was no bad blood between her and her co-hosts. Charlamagne reaffirmed this in a recent interview with VladTV, stating that Yee left simply because she was given the opportunity to host her own nationally syndicated show.
According to Charlamagne, Yee was the only one in the BC trio who had never been given the chance to host her own morning show, and the opportunity to do so was long overdue. Way Up With Angela Yee airs from 10 am to 2 pm, right after The Breakfast Club, making it an opportunity that was hard to pass up.
At the end of Yee’s final broadcast on December 2, 2022, she shared a final toast with the entire Breakfast Club crew backstage, thanking everyone for their support and wishing them all the best. Charlamagne congratulated Yee on her success and praised the trio for creating a blueprint for others to follow.
Overall, Yee’s departure was a mutual decision that allowed her to pursue her own show, and there was no drama involved. The Breakfast Club continues to thrive, and Yee’s new show is sure to be a success as well.
