Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is in legal hot water after being arrested late Friday night on multiple weapons charges, with authorities confirming he’s currently being held without bail.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Perryman was pulled over around 9:30 p.m. in South L.A.for a routine traffic stop due to vehicle code violations. What began as a minor stop quickly escalated when deputies reportedly discovered five firearms inside his vehicle… including two assault-style rifles.
The 31-year-old NFL veteran was arrested on suspicion of firearms violations, though officials have yet to announce the exact charges. Despite the serious situation, deputies noted that Perryman cooperated fully during the encounter. He remains in custody at the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station, with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
The Chargers organization issued a brief statement, acknowledging they are “aware of the matter” and are actively gathering details. Perryman’s agent, Ron Butler, also released a statement: “Denzel is a respected veteran in the NFL and a dedicated father, teammate, and professional. While we don’t take this situation lightly, we’re confident it will be resolved fairly and within the bounds of the law.”
At this time, it remains unclear how serious the legal consequences will be for Perryman or whether the NFL will take disciplinary action.
