In a sensational comeback, Celine Dion is set to make a grand appearance at the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony, earning a staggering $2 million for a single song, according to a report by TMZ.
This performance marks a significant return for the Grammy-winning artist, who has been absent from the public eye for years.
The 56-year-old singer was recently seen checking into the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris, sparking excitement among fans and confirming rumors of her highly-anticipated performance.
A source close to the situation revealed to Page Six that Dion’s appearance at the opening ceremony is confirmed, making it her first public performance since her health issues came to light.
Back in 2021, Dion had to put a halt to her Las Vegas residency due to severe muscle spasms. The following year, in December 2022, she shared a heartbreaking diagnosis with her fans: stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder characterized by painful and progressive muscle rigidity and stiffness.
This diagnosis explained her prolonged absence from the stage and her struggle with severe health challenges.
Sports medicine therapist Terrill Lobo, who has been treating Dion, explained that she likely experienced a seizure due to overstimulation while recording music. Despite these daunting challenges, Dion’s passion for music and her fans remains undiminished.
“What am I gonna do?” Dion poignantly asked, highlighting her determination to continue performing. “If I can’t get stimulated by what I love, and then I’m gonna go onstage and, like, you’re gonna put the pulse oximeter on me and you’re gonna turn me on my back?”
Undeterred by her health struggles, Dion is set to inspire audiences once again with her powerful voice. Her upcoming performance at the Paris Olympics is not just a testament to her resilience but also a highly-anticipated event that fans around the world eagerly await.
