Cardi B is finally set to start receiving payments from YouTuber Tasha K after a long legal battle over defamation. The Bronx rap queen, who won a $3.9 million lawsuit against Tasha, has agreed to a five-year payment plan totaling just over $1.1 million.
According to court documents filed on Friday (February 21) and obtained by HipHopDX, Tasha K’s legal team reached a deal with Cardi’s attorneys, allowing her to pay a portion of what she owes in exchange for Cardi dropping her objections to Tasha’s bankruptcy filing. As part of the agreement, Tasha is also prohibited from making any negative, defamatory, or disparaging remarks about Cardi B moving forward.
This payment plan, approved in bankruptcy court, only scratches the surface of Tasha’s massive debt. Although she will begin paying off this $1.1 million chunk, the remaining balance of nearly $3.9 million is still on the table.
The court made it clear that Cardi’s claim is “non-dischargeable,” meaning Tasha K will still be responsible for paying the full amount even after completing her bankruptcy process.
The legal drama between Cardi B and Tasha K has been brewing since 2019 when Cardi sued over what she described as a “malicious smear campaign” meant to ruin her reputation. Tasha K, known for her controversial YouTube content, had accused the Grammy-winning rapper of engaging in sex acts with beer bottles during her stripper days, working as a prostitute, and contracting herpes… all of which Cardi denied.
After a lengthy court battle, Cardi emerged victorious in 2022. Tasha K (real name Latasha Kebe) was ordered to remove over 20 defamatory videos and was permanently barred from making further false statements about the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker. However, collecting the money has been another fight, with Tasha filing for bankruptcy in 2023 in an attempt to dodge the multimillion-dollar payout.
Now, with this payment plan in place, Cardi B is finally getting closer to collecting what she’s owed, but Tasha K’s financial troubles are far from over.
