Cardi B recently expressed her admiration for Rihanna’s music and her desire to collaborate with the iconic singer. However, she revealed during an interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game that she feels hesitant to approach Rihanna for a collaboration.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper admitted that she admires Rihanna’s vocal prowess and unique style but believes her own voice and musical style differ significantly.
She explained that attempting to emulate Rihanna’s sound would feel unnatural and might not showcase her own strengths as an artist.
“I love Rihanna’s music. But, I don’t make music like that. I sound kinda stupid trying to sing like that. I sound stupid trying to make music like that. So, if I ever get that perfect record, I can not wait until I feel like, ‘This song…I know she’s going to like it.’ I don’t want to send her nothing like, ‘Ho, what the f**k is this sh*t? Take this thing out of my face.’”
Cardi B emphasized the importance of finding the right song that aligns with both her style and Rihanna’s preferences.
She expressed her desire to create a track that she knows Rihanna would genuinely appreciate, rather than risking sending something that might not resonate with the “Diamonds” singer.
The rapper’s honesty about her reservations highlights her commitment to creating authentic music that reflects her individuality as an artist.
While she remains open to the possibility of collaborating with Rihanna in the future, she is determined to find the perfect song that showcases her own unique talents.
