In a recent Instagram post, Cam’ron shared a heartfelt message for Ja Morant, drawing from his own experiences in both basketball and music. The influential rapper posted a throwback picture of himself from his college basketball days, revealing that his behavior led to his dismissal from college.
However, Cam’ron considers himself fortunate because his musical talents provided an alternative path. He advises Morant not to make the same mistakes and emphasizes that the young basketball star cannot rely on rapping as a backup plan.
Reflecting on his past, Cam’ron confessed, “During my college days, I engaged in reckless behavior that resulted in my expulsion, specifically pistol-whipping someone. I must clarify that I do not condone such actions. Fortunately, I had contingency plans and pursued music as a career. Morant, you must avoid following my footsteps because rapping might not be a viable option for you! Take a look at the slightly blurry picture—it still represents my journey.”
Cam’ron is not the only rapper to comment on Ja Morant’s situation. Lil Wayne also recently made headlines with his thoughts on the Grizzlies’ rising star. During an episode of the All The Smoke podcast, Lil Wayne attributed Morant’s behavior to his small hometown, consisting of approximately 3,000 residents. Lil Wayne emphasized that expecting responsibility from Morant, who received a $200 million contract, was unrealistic, adding, “You can’t blame him. It’s like magic.”
The NBA is currently expected to disclose details regarding the disciplinary measures for Morant’s recent incident involving brandishing a gun during an Instagram Live video following the NBA Finals. Claudia Jordan, a prominent figure on The Breakfast Club, revealed that Morant plans to argue that the weapon was merely a toy.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver addressed this report during an interview on the Dan Patrick Show, expressing his concern over the matter. Silver pondered whether the distinction between a real gun and a seemingly dangerous object should matter when live-streaming in a manner that appears reckless to the public.
