Authorities in San Bernardino County are casting doubt on the account of Rebecca Haro, whose 7-month-old son Emmanuel vanished after she reported being attacked outside a Yucaipa store on August 14.
Deputies say Haro’s statements contained “significant inconsistencies,” and she stopped cooperating with investigators. Her husband, Jake Haro, has also been described as uncooperative.
K9 teams searched the area, but no trace of the baby was found. An Amber Alert was not issued due to a lack of suspect or vehicle information. The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, which initially offered a $5,000 reward, quickly withdrew, citing concerns over the mother’s conflicting story.
Emmanuel was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie. He is about 21 pounds, 24 inches tall, with brown hair, brown eyes, and is cross-eyed. Authorities are urging anyone with information to call 909-890-4904.
