Bun B, the legendary rapper and now successful restauranteur, didn’t hold back when comparing Atlanta and Houston’s food scenes. During his recent appearance on the “Kickin It With The OGs” podcast, he boldly stated that Atlanta’s culinary offerings can’t compete with those of his hometown, Houston. And as if that wasn’t enough, he even took a playful jab at the women of Atlanta.
When the conversation turned to comparing the two cities, covering everything from opportunities to quality of life and traffic, Bun B remained loyal to Houston. Asked by host Aristotle which city he preferred, Bun didn’t hesitate to crown Houston as the winner, citing the food and the women as key factors.
“We have better-looking women,” Bun B confidently remarked at the 42-minute mark of the podcast. But he didn’t stop there. He criticized Atlanta’s restaurant scene, saying, “Y’all got great restaurants with ambiance and experience, but nobody’s mama is cooking in y’all spots. I don’t feel that home-cooked love in Atlanta. Maybe I’m wrong; I used to come here back in the day.”
He went on to explain that while Atlanta focuses heavily on the experience of dining out—complete with dancing and atmosphere—the food itself doesn’t quite deliver. “You might get some wings or mac & cheese, but that’s not why people are really going out,” Bun added.
Even when Aristotle acknowledged that Atlanta’s food scene might need some work, he noted that Houston also emphasizes the dining experience. Bun B, however, was quick to defend his city: “We do, but our food backs it up. That’s the difference. Houston has deep roots in Louisiana, and you can taste it in the food.”
With his bold statements, Bun B sparked a lively debate, but one thing is clear: Houston’s culinary culture and its women hold a special place in his heart.
