A tense scene unfolded Wednesday night at New York’s LaGuardia Airport when two Delta Air Lines jets collided on the taxiway, leaving one crew member injured.
According to Delta officials, the incident occurred during a “low-speed collision” when the wing of one aircraft struck the cockpit windows of another. The first jet was preparing for departure to Roanoke, Virginia, carrying 28 passengers, while the second had just landed from Charlotte, North Carolina, with 57 people on board.
Authorities confirmed that a flight attendant on the Roanoke-bound flight suffered a knee injury and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No other passengers or crew were hurt.
The Federal Aviation Administration and Delta Airlines are investigating the cause of the accident. Despite the dramatic nature of the collision, travelers described a miraculous outcome with only minor injuries reported.
Delta released a statement ensuring that the safety of its passengers and staff remains its top priority as they work with federal investigators to determine what led to the accident.
