The search for missing New Yorker Brian Tarrence has taken a tragic turn in Turks and Caicos, where authorities have located a deceased body in a remote area near Grace Bay.
Tarrence, who was vacationing on the island with his wife, vanished early on June 25 after surveillance footage captured him walking alone away from their hotel. Since then, local police and a former NYPD detective turned private investigator have been working tirelessly to locate him.
On Saturday morning, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force launched another coordinated search effort. Just hours in, a decomposed body was found in the vicinity… though officials have not yet confirmed whether the remains belong to Tarrence.
“We send our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased and urge the public to avoid speculation until the body is positively identified,” said Acting Police Commissioner Rodney Adams in a statement.
Veteran investigator Carl DeFazio, who joined the case to support the family, previously noted the lack of any signs of foul play. “If it was a robbery, there likely would’ve been credit card activity or evidence… so far, there’s nothing indicating that,” DeFazio told CBS New York.
As the investigation continues, friends, family, and followers await official updates with heavy hearts.
