In a recent episode of the We In Miami Podcast, Ray Benzino, former co-owner of The Source, reminisced about his time at the magazine and a memorable encounter with Jay-Z and Dame Dash. During the discussion, Benzino disclosed an incident where tensions ran high, and he had to navigate a potentially dangerous situation.
The Roc-A-Fella co-founders were at The Source offices to address concerns about a cover situation, and Benzino invited them to a meeting to discuss the matter. However, being cautious, he discreetly ensured the presence of security personnel in different rooms, unbeknownst to Jay-Z and Dame Dash.
As the meeting progressed, emotions escalated, and some of the security personnel came out from their concealed positions. Benzino clarified that he was unsure if Jay-Z and Dame Dash were armed, but he and his team were prepared for any scenario with a significant presence of seven armed individuals.
Reflecting on the incident, Benzino acknowledged that things could have taken a darker turn if they had not been able to de-escalate the situation. He emphasized that he’s not one to back down from a confrontation and takes a strong stance against intimidation or attempts to take away what rightfully belongs to him.
In the podcast, the “Love & Hip-Hop” star shared his resolve never to be bullied or have anything taken from him. Although the encounter was intense, he ultimately emphasized the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to conflicts and preventing unnecessary escalation.
