Thousands of bottles of Benadryl Liquid Elixir have been recalled due to serious safety concerns, with officials warning that the packaging poses a potential poisoning risk to children.
Arsell, the manufacturer of the popular allergy medication, issued the recall on Thursday, impacting 100 mL bottles of Benadryl Liquid Elixir. The affected product was sold on Amazon between July 2023 and October 2024, with prices ranging from $16 to $19.
The issue stems from a packaging defect, as the bottles lack child-resistant features, making it easier for young children to accidentally ingest the liquid. This flaw violates safety standards and increases the risk of unintentional poisoning.
The recalled bottles are:
- 100 mL Benadryl Liquid Elixir
- Round, dark plastic bottle
- Pink-and-white front label featuring “Benadryl” in bold blue text
- Back label includes safety warnings, storage instructions, and manufacturer details
If you have purchased this product, stop using it immediately and store it out of children’s reach. Consumers are advised to contact Arsell for a refund or replacement. Additionally, those with concerns should report any adverse effects to health authorities.
