The culinary world is mourning the loss of renowned chef and television personality Anne Burrell, who passed away at the age of 55. The heartbreaking news was confirmed Tuesday by both her family and the Food Network.
“We are heartbroken to confirm the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Anne Burrell,” the Food Network shared in an official statement. “Anne brought unmatched passion, talent, and heart to every show she touched – from teaching home cooks to competing with fire and flair. Her legacy lives on in every kitchen she inspired.”
The circumstances surrounding her passing have not yet been made public.
Anne leaves behind her husband of nearly four years, Stuart Claxton, his son Javier, her mother Marlene, and sister Jane. Her family released a moving tribute: “Anne was more than a celebrated chef – she was a loving wife, sister, daughter, and stepmom. Her laughter and light filled every room, and her impact reached far beyond those who knew her personally.”
A staple of Food Network programming for over a decade, Burrell was best known for hosting the long-running Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-hosting the hit series Worst Cooks in America, which became one of the network’s top-rated shows.
