A violent home invasion in Beach Park ended with two men wounded, an arrest, and a stunning discovery of drugs and cash inside the victim’s home.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called just after 8 p.m. Thursday to a manufactured home in the 38200 block of Sheridan Road. When officers arrived, they found a 67-year-old man suffering from serious injuries to his face and body. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, treated, and later released.
According to investigators, the victim told deputies that a former neighbor, identified as 47-year-old Brian Wisch, forced his way into the home by breaking through a glass storm door. Wisch was allegedly armed with a gun and demanded money. The man handed over several hundred dollars, but Wisch then pistol-whipped him multiple times before fleeing.
Detectives tracked Wisch down the next day at a business in the 16400 block of Russell Road in Wadsworth. When they located him, Wisch had a gunshot wound to his stomach and was taken to the hospital, treated, and released.
Authorities later determined that during the invasion, the homeowner retrieved his own firearm and shot Wisch. Investigators say Wisch then fought back, wrestled the gun away, and used it to beat the victim before escaping. Both firearms involved have since been recovered.
As the investigation continued, detectives uncovered another twist: the victim was allegedly selling drugs out of his home. A search warrant led to the seizure of nearly two pounds of cocaine and approximately $500,000 in cash. Officials say drug-related charges against the homeowner are expected.
Wisch now faces three counts of home invasion, two counts of armed robbery, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He is being held in the Lake County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning.
What began as a brutal break-in has now unfolded into a case involving gunfire, former neighbors, and a massive drug bust… shocking a quiet Beach Park community.
