Ashanti has officially confirmed the long-speculated news of her pregnancy with her boyfriend Nelly.
The announcement came via an Instagram video on Wednesday (April 17), where the singer creatively disclosed the joyful news in collaboration with Proov fertility tests and Essence magazine.
In the Instagram post, Ashanti, 43, engaged in a scripted skit backstage. Amidst preparations, her team members are seen calling her to take the stage, prompting her mother and manager Tina Douglas to inquire about her timing.
Ashanti responds with a clever quip, indicating she’ll need approximately nine months, a clear nod to her pregnancy.
The video, captioned “Baby baby baby baby…,” a playful reference to Ashanti’s 2002 single “Baby,” also includes a tag to her partner. Shortly after its release, Essence magazine shared an exclusive interview with the celebrated singer, where she not only confirmed her pregnancy but also her engagement to Nelly.
In the interview, Ashanti expressed her gratitude for the abundance of love and support she’s receiving in this new chapter of her life.
