A deadly confrontation unfolded early Friday morning at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base near Tucson, Arizona, when base security shot and killed an unauthorized civilian attempting to breach the installation.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when a non-military individual approached the base’s main gate and refused to comply with identification protocols. The suspect reportedly drove erratically, slammed into a security barrier, and attempted to reverse before being shot by a member of the 355th Security Forces Squadron.
“This was a tragic incident, and we deeply regret the loss of life,” said Col. Jose Cabrera, commander of the 355th Wing. “Our security forces followed their training and acted swiftly to protect our personnel and the integrity of the base.”
