Amazon is said to lay off thousands of employees in the coming week. The company will focus on the retail division, the company’s devices organization, and human resources.
According to the New York Times, Amazon plans to lay off 10,000 people in corporate and technology jobs starting this week.
This is said to be the biggest layoff the company has ever seen in history. The layoffs will roll out team by team rather than all at once, one person said. The 10,000 would represent 3 percent of Amazon’s corporate employees and less than 1 percent of its global workforce.
Elon Musk’s Twitter removed a crazy amount of jobs. Meta followed right along with their company layoffs, as well as Instagram, announcing that it was laying off 11,000 employees.
On another note, Jeff Bezos just gave Dolly Parton $100 million for his “Bezos Courage & Civility Award,” leaving many current and noncurrent employees feeling disgusted and hurt by the act of taking away someone’s job before the Holiday season right after giving away $100 million.
