A 31-year-old man, Rymir Satterthwaite, has been at the center of a 14-year-long legal battle, claiming that rap icon Jay-Z has consistently avoided taking a paternity test.
Allegedly, the rapper’s reluctance stems from claims that Rymir’s late mother, Wanda, was underage when she reportedly had an intimate encounter with him.
Rymir initially sought legal action in 2010 to establish paternity, but Jay-Z… whose real name is Shawn Carter… has consistently denied being Rymir’s father. Despite this, the rapper has never submitted to a DNA test. Jay-Z’s legal team argues that the New Jersey court lacks jurisdiction, further complicating the case.
Rymir’s godmother, Dr. Lillie Coley, alleges that the rapper’s refusal is deeply tied to the circumstances surrounding Wanda’s age at the time of their alleged relationship. “Behind the scenes, I think he’s scared,” Lillie shared. “Wanda was underage, and that’s why he’s not doing it.”
Adding another layer to the controversy, Rymir and Lillie recently filed a lawsuit against multiple New Jersey judges and the court system. They claim the judiciary “conspired” with Jay-Z to dismiss critical cases relating to paternity, inheritance, and alleged abuse of court processes.
The duo asserts they’ve incurred over $100,000 in legal expenses, with ongoing financial burdens stemming from what they describe as “illegal liens” placed on their property by Jay-Z’s legal team.
Wanda, who passed away in 2019, alleged that she had unprotected sex with Jay-Z, then known as “Rock”… when she was just 16 years old. She claimed the encounter occurred in Brooklyn, NY, after he picked her up in Philadelphia in 1992.
At the time, Wanda’s boyfriend, Robert Graves, was listed as Rymir’s father on his birth certificate. However, a DNA test in 2011 proved otherwise, leaving Rymir determined to uncover the truth.
Rymir believes his mother’s relentless pursuit of justice contributed to her premature death. “She did everything they asked for,” he shared. “She traveled, she filed, she fought to the very end to get answers.”
Now carrying his mother’s torch, Rymir remains committed to uncovering the truth. “This could’ve been resolved years ago,” he said. “He [Jay-Z] could’ve handled it privately and spared us this prolonged ordeal.”
Despite the legal hurdles and emotional strain, Rymir holds onto hope for closure. “I believe there’s some truth to it, and I think deep down, he knows that too,” he remarked.
The lawsuit filed by Rymir and Lillie continues to move through the legal system, reigniting public interest in this high-profile dispute. Whether or not Jay-Z will address the allegations or submit to a paternity test remains uncertain.
