A bonfire in Pinson, Alabama turned deadly when 18-year-old cheerleader Kimber Mills was fatally shot after a fight broke out.
Authorities say Steven Tyler Whitehead, 27, opened fire just after midnight, killing Kimber and wounding others.
Silas McCay, 21, was struck 10 times while shielding friends but miraculously survived and is expected to recover.
Kimber, a senior at Cleveland High School, was remembered by her sister Ashley as “so loved by so many.” Whitehead faces multiple attempted murder charges and is being held on a $180,000 bond.
