Hip-hop commentator Akademiks, also known as Livingston Allen, finds himself embroiled in a legal battle as he faces serious accusations in a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Ziya Abashe, in Essex County, NJ.
The lawsuit, brought forth by Abashe’s attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, alleges rape and defamation.
Court documents obtained by iHearts143Quotes reveal disturbing details of the case. Abashe claims that in July 2022, Akademiks invited her to his residence, where she was allegedly drugged and taken advantage of by Akademiks and two of his friends.
She recounts waking up naked in what she believed to be Akademiks’ bedroom, experiencing a harrowing assault.
Following the incident, Abashe reported the alleged incident to the authorities. However, instead of receiving support, she claims Akademiks defamed her character by accusing her of participating in an “orgy” with the two men while denying his own involvement.
The lawsuit paints a grim picture of the aftermath of the alleged assault, citing significant physical and psychological trauma experienced by Abashe, along with the invasion of her privacy.
Furthermore, Abashe asserts that Akademiks’ public statements exacerbated her suffering.
