A shocking drug bust at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has authorities on high alert. A man attempting to board a flight to São Paulo, Brazil, was arrested after nearly $3 million worth of illegal marijuana products were uncovered in his luggage during a routine inspection.
On June 28, officers from the Atlanta Police Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection flagged the suspicious bags. What they found inside was staggering:
- 34 pounds of hashish
- 12+ pounds of THC wax
- Over 4.6 pounds of marijuana
- More than a pound of marijuana paste
Investigators say the estimated street value of the drugs totaled $2.97 million.
The suspect, identified as Vance Ray Randolph, never made it to Brazil. Instead, he was taken into custody and booked into Clayton County Jail. Authorities confirmed he faces multiple drug-related charges, although the specific counts have not yet been released.
This high-stakes airport seizure is now under investigation as officials work to uncover whether Randolph was acting alone or as part of a larger trafficking operation.
